Ward 40
One of Johannesburg's 135 wards, as the Municipal Demarcation Board drew them for the local government election on 4 November 2026. Below are its suburbs and what Johannesburg Water (JW) reported for the reservoirs and towers that supply them.
Suburbs
2 suburbs in Ward 40. Those marked (part) lie only partly in the ward.
- Meadowlands (part)
- Orlando (part)
How we place a suburb in a ward: we lay the Municipal Demarcation Board's ward boundaries over the City of Johannesburg's suburb map. A suburb is listed when at least a quarter of it lies in the ward, or when it makes up at least a tenth of the ward. A suburb split by a ward line may be supplied differently in the part outside the ward.
Supplies
The 4 supplies JW links to these suburbs, with the last status JW reported for each. A supply is a reservoir, tower or pump station that JW reports on. Most suburbs draw on more than one.

What JW's boards cannot tell you
- Whether water reaches your street or your tap.
- Which streets lose water first: JW warns of higher-lying areas but does not name the streets.
- Why a supply ran low, unless a JW notice gives a reason.
- Pipe bursts, tankers and valve work, which are not on the boards.
