How we place a suburb in a ward: we lay the Municipal Demarcation Board's ward boundaries over the City of Johannesburg's suburb map. A suburb is listed when at least a quarter of it lies in the ward, or when it makes up at least a tenth of the ward. A suburb split by a ward line may be supplied differently in the part outside the ward.

Supplies

The 5 supplies JW links to these suburbs, with the last status JW reported for each. A supply is a reservoir, tower or pump station that JW reports on. Most suburbs draw on more than one.

What JW's boards cannot tell you

Whether water reaches your street or your tap.
Which streets lose water first: JW warns of higher-lying areas but does not name the streets.
Why a supply ran low, unless a JW notice gives a reason.
Pipe bursts, tankers and valve work, which are not on the boards.
